When does it drop to zero? Warm idle or stopping at a light?
The oil pickups in the pan are well known for clogging up and needing replacement. It's the likely culprit.
Now, that gauge in your dash is nothing more than a fancy on/off indicator. If oil pressure is greater than 4psi, it reads "normal." Anything lower and it'll fling itself to L, or the "off" position.
Check the pressure with a mechanical gauge (if you don't have one take it to a shop) and get the real numbers. If pressure is low all the time, you might need to take a look at some potential problems going on inside your engine.
