You powdered the intake? Did they powder the sealing surfaces by any chance? I assume that they had to media blast the intake, but is there anything on the surface of the intake that could have changed this thing?
If they did get some powder on the sealing surface, do you know what they did to remove it? Could they have taken some material off? This might explain some leaks. If material has been removed then you dont have the same tolerances as before and you may have to machine the intake a bit???
Just taking a shot......

Got sick of changing intake gaskets so we pulled the motor and tore it down. Looks like the second ring on cylinder 4 broke. Still had good compression but no oil control. It must have been sucking oil past the intake valve and distributing it around the intake manifold. I am taking the block down for a hone on Wednesday, and should have it back together on Saturday. Going to go ahead and install new bearings as well.

It sucks that you had to tear the motor apart. Hopefully you have found the problem and can go have fun now.

Sucks big time Dennis. The truck ran strong last year with the exception of the carburetor. The motor sat all winter and then got a new intake gasket, new carb and new headers. It ran good when we trailered it to get new dual exhaust, and ran great on the drive back home since it was quiet enough to drive. Start it up one afternoon to drive it outside for a bath and it smoke like a coal train.

Our machinist has time to hone it tomorrow afternoon so I am taking it down on my lunch. Hopefully he has most the parts. Not too easy to find good gaskets and bearings in Wyoming with any sort of speed.
