well i noticed oil leaking ,a very small amount out of the tube coming off the dust shield.could it be the rear main?and is there anyway to stop it so i dont have to seperate the tranny?
if you keep looking you may find that it's coming from a valve cover gasket, but if it is for sure a rear main it's either replace, or you can try to run a couple of treatments of Auto RX through the thing. I've had some amazing luck with leaking seals with that stuff. If it works , it will hold for a very long time after, if not, you have a clean engine and you needed to replace teh thing anyway.
ya ill have to get a dood look but its dripping out of that tube.its not dripping bad but it is dripping.where can i get auto rx?
Auto-Rx Engine Cleaner read the application instructions for diesels. The stuff isn't cheap, but it's worth every penny. You'l need to run 2 full treatments and it will take 2 bottles for each .
now the stinkin oil pressure has jumped down on the factory gauge it hovering on the o on normal.this has all happened since i changed the oil.it is the valve covers leaking and a little out of the filter the filter just needed a wrench put on it about 1/4 turn after hand tight.so whats the deal with the oil pressure?it has 2 quarts of lucas in it so thats why im worried.
You can't trust the factory gauge, its just an idiot light with a needle. If your pressure dropped below the worry level, your oil warning light would go off. You need to put a real gauge on the thing if you want to find out what the pressure is doing.
