the next job loss

I received a call Friday night that my base had been closed Friday morning!
no need letting me know when it closed?
my supervisor let me know if I wanted to keep my job I would have to re locate a thousand miles to another base.
I am sure God has plans for my family that don't include re locating to another state to be a mechanic at a base that might be next to close.
I guess I will take the meager severance package and find another way to support my family and let my wife finish her nursing degree.

Read the book by Dan Miller, "No More Mondays." It's a short book and very informative. You might find that losing your job is more of a blessing than a curse, and the best thing that ever happened to you.

You are not a statistic here. Even tho 1.8 million have also lost their jobs since Febuary.
Keep your chin up...things will get better....I try to be optimistic!

I'm afraid its going to get worse. Gone are the days where people turn their nose up at what used to be beneath them career wise. I'm confident that the people with half a work ethic and the will to roll up their sleeves will get through this. Good Luck Brother!

Actually, while "Tuesdays With Morrie" is a heart-warming book about finding what's important, even when facing death, it is not a self-help book. (I've read both Tuesdays" and "The Five People You Meet in Heaven" by Mitch Albom, and they are terrific reads) "No More Mondays" is a book that helps you look at your particular talents and may show you how to use them to work for yourself- that doesn't mean opening a business, it could mean just being a consultant, doing what you already do, but for more than one compnay and making a lot more money per hour. It's worth reading. www.Danmiller.com is a good source of info on the subject, as well.

"I received a call Friday night that my base had been closed Friday morning!"

What sort of "base" would that be? I'm only familiar with the term in military context.
