radius arm?

does anyone know for certain if you have just 1 bad raius arm can you replace just that 1? Or do you have to or are you supposed to replace both sides. And just to be clear I am talking about the iron arm and not the rubber bushings. And I know about changeing the axle cap with the arm as they are matched. Just no sure about side to side being matched or not.

When you say arm do you mean the arm that goes parallel to the frame like on light duty 4 wd's and 2wd's with the IFS or the one that goes perpendicular to the frame that the wheel assembly mounts to like on 2wd IFS tucks.I suspect you mean the latter,if so,then you can change just one side. While I was down there I would re bush the other. Why are you changing the arm?accident? If your camber is out you can take the arm on the truck to a frame shop and have it "cold bent".I have brought the whole truck to the frame shop or just the arm with the specs that I wanted it bent to.Make sure if this is the case to NOT let them heat it up,it MUST be cold bent.

I think he's talking about the one that is parallel to the frame. The one you're describing is the I-beam, thus the name "Twin-I-Beam" suspension.

As for whether both radius arms need to be replaced or just one, I don't know. It seems that if you get one from the same year, you shouldn't have to replace them both. I think post '72 they started making them a little differently (cold steel vs cast or something like that). Some years require different rubber bushings on the end.

Radius arms do not have to be replaced as pairs. YOu can replace one side if you should find the need.

I often read or percieve things differently. The fellas above were also trying to be specific and provide you with a bunch of info. They did a good job, and were trying to help.
If it helps, I have replaced just the caps. I have not seen enough of a tolerance difference to create a problem with axle alignment nor have I not been able to keep the axle located.
I have used varous parts that came from 4 different donor vehicles when I installed a D60F in fornt of the old bronco.
