I have an '07 F-350 Powerstroke, Crewcab, 8 ft. bed, 4WD. Completely stock suspension (including the "Rancho" shocks). When in a turn, the steering seems to "stick" a little. For instance, if I am in a constant turn like going thru a cloverleaf onto the freeway, the steering won't be smooth if I have to change the tightness of the turn, as in it feels like it "sticks" a little and the wheel won't spin smoothly. In the past it seemed to be a product of low tire pressure...the tires were a little low and when I pumped them up, the steering would correct itself. Now, my tires are at the correct pressure and it is still doing it. I took it to Ford a few months ago and got the "this is normal" speech, however it doesn't seem like it should be.
Does this make sense? Anybody else had this problem?
I have been wanting to replace the shocks for sometime now, if I do that, will that fix the problem? Could the steering stabilizer be going bad?
I see a lot of people run Bilstein shocks on here, some run Edelbrock. I have a friend that has the Rancho RS9000XL on his 1 ton truck with the "My Ride" adjustment tool and loves them. What would the best shocks for me to get? I don't do a ton of towing or off roading, so something for a good ride on the streets would be good.
