I don't know if I lost a lot of the upper range of my hearing or what, but it doesn't sound any different to me. I notice some more kick on the bottom. but as far as sound I can't hear it.

Man that sounds rough. I bet that it could have been done a little easier which I bet you know how to do it now. But hey thats how you learn. I do the same thing the first time on some stuff. Some guys on here have very nice truck ladders they use when working on these trucks to stop the pain.
