Hi guys. been reading a while good info. but I need help, I have a 2000 F350 6speed manual with 126000 miles. 4x4 supercab. mods, 4in. banks ex. k&n air filter (for now) here is the proublem low power at WOT. idles good, runs good , boost same as allwas 15-17 lbs but EGT only gets up 900 deg. when towing (I am towing 11,000 lb 5th wheel ) Thanks for advice.
Loss of power at WOT and EGT 350° lower than usual lead me to believe you are not getting enough fuel. Fuel filter dirty, restriction from tank to fuel pump, bad fuel pump. Try opening the fuel drain (put a hose on the drain tube leading to a large tall catch container) and check the flow with key on. The pump will run about 20 seconds. Should gush out pretty good. If it doesn't check the filter. Let us know how that goes.
Just had an issue with fuel filters INSIDE the tank.
You need to pull the fuel pickup to get inside the mixing chamber for fitlers removal. Was easy with my dumpbed, but will require tank removal on fixed one.
Posted a pictures in already running topic just days ago.
To try to rule in or rule out the mixing chamber screens you can remove the fuel line at rear of pump and use some compressed air back toward the tank. If this solves the low fuel volume coming from drain the tank screens are most likely clogged. You can also attach a fuel hose to the rear of the pump and use a secondary fuel suppy from a fuel can to test the pump. You need to isolate whether it is a problem in the tank or with the pump.
If you have to drop the tank do the "In-tank pre pump filter mod". Hopefully a search will find you some threads on the subject.
