So somehow or another, my fuel door wont close and just kind of flops back and forth going down the road. I inspected it from underneath and could see that the little pin/spring connector has somehow broken off the mechanism that turns with the door opening and closing.
Has this happened to anyone else? Could I just purchase a new painted fuel door w/ mechanism and install it and be good to go? I wouldnt think it would be that expensive. Or is there a way I can fix the mechanism some how maybe? Please give some input. Thanks
Had the same thing happen about 2 months ago. I took it back to the dealer and they had the part in stock. Reused the same door, just replaced the plastic housing that the fuel filler line bolts to. I think it was about $30. The technician pulled the housing out and tried to fix it, but the part the spring hooks to was broken off.
