Newbie Questions

I just bought a 2001 X 7.3L Limited (150k). I was looking for an F250, but got (what I think to be) a killer deal on this one so I snatched it up. Now I am in X-mode. By the way I paid $8500 for it.

I have read through the forums and read plenty of GREAT info, but I have a few I have not been able to find the answers to:

1. Is there any place to buy MISC parts? I am not talking about full-fledged replacement parts, but small stuff? Examples:
a. I am missing the small grille insert on the passenger side. I went to the dealer and they told me I have to buy the whole grille.
b. Headrest for 2nd row

I hit a few junkyards here in Miami and no luck.

2. The back of my X is significantly taller/higher that the front. Any ideas on how to level it? Should I lift the front to match or lower the front?

Thanks for any advice/tips.

Tony

BTW - my handle "HeaVEEweight" is the name of my boat.

Look for misc parts on eBay. You could see if you can order from one of our OEM sponsors here on the site. They will be CONSIDERABLY cheaper than your dealer.

You need to determine why it is that your back is higher than your front before you make a decision in what to do with it.

Welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the quick reply. I frequent many other boards (fishing related) and I always use sponsors. When I am going to make a purchase, I will definitely use this board's sponsors.

I have another question(s).

- Are the mirrors supposed to telescope in and out via a switch? They look like they're supposed to but I can't find a switch.

Ken/Monsta: I noticed several upgrades to your truck specifically the headlights, grill, and side mirrors. Can you elaborate?

My tow mirrors on my 2000 are manually operated. You grab them and pull them out.

No. As Cardiac69 said, they are manually operated.

Since my truck is an 05 the grill and headlights are stock.

I put 08-09 Super Duty trailer tow mirrors on. It's a fairly common mod now and you can find lots of info about here and in the Super Duty forum. 08+ mirrors are the only only that have the capability to electrically extended (optional. mine are manual) The ones you have never had that option.

My wheels are from an 08 Super Duty as well. They are the 8-spoke 20" optional wheels. Spacers are needed to make them sit right in the wheel wells. There's also a lot of info about swapping later wheels onto the Excursion as well.

WOW! Yes I will gladly take the trip up there. It is Saturday right now about 1pm. I can be there today. Shoot me an email to tony [at] oceanpromotions [dot] com (I get this on my cell) or call me at three oh five, two oh six, eighty-two fifty-two.

What size shirt do you wear? I run a bunch of fishing tournaments and think you deserve at least some free swag.
