I was thinking getting the Cummins 4TB Diesel. Its smaller, and less costly, plus mpg is far better. I'm looking for a daily driver, and not a daily hauler. Its a good step in the right direction and can be complimented with CNG (compressed natural gas) or bio diesel.
I paid $2200 for an 81 P30 step van with a 130K mile 4BTA. That was a pretty good deal, typical price seems to be in the $3-3500 range for a complete running step van. An engine alone seems to go for $2000 on ebay.
