The wife and I have decided to give away 1 daughter, 14 years old, comes with clothes and shoes.
We will pay the bus fare to get her to you.

She should be able to work hard for you, its not like she ever got tired working here, so I consider her fully rested up.

Full of common sense, she must be, its never been used even once, so she must still have it all.

She maybe getting a little low on attitude though, that has been USED A TON !!!!!

Thanks anyway but I have been there done that, I have a 27 year old daughter who is having my first grand child in August and a 24 year old daughter, so done with the daughter thing, and my son is only 5 and almost done with the son thing as well.....just kidding, he is just a handful when Al is gone to work in Alberta, he is an angel when he is home....

Isn't it nice to see your wonderful daughter go to bed on night and be replaced by something resembling Jekyll and Hyde.

At 14 you have a long road ahead. A very, very long road. Isn't the bedroom door slamming great. I have a tip regarding that. Tell her the next time the door slams it is coming off. I did it. The reaction was priceless.

I pray you survive the hormonal road with your senses intact. Many do not.

My son occasionally gets stupid, and does something boneheaded.
But no real big deal.....I call him on it, he says sorry, and he really does try to not repeat the same stupid move.

My daughter, thats a different story.
After all the lies, stealing, temper tantrums, and yes door slamming.
I am just about ready to give up.
Interim report cards came home yesterday, in English she has handed in 4 of 21 assignments.
When asked why all we got was pure BS.
I went to her school, and found out that most everything she told me was a lie.
And to top it off, she gave up her own locker, and is sharing 1 locker between 4 girls.....The stuff we found in it would have turned my hair instantly gray, if i had hair.....See its a good thing I am hairless.
I really do try to be a good Dad.....despite that I feel at a loss on what else I can do.

Removing her door, that must have been an awesome reaction when she was told that....did it stop slamming, or did you have to actually take it down?

 

I actually took the door off.

All you can do is let them know what is right and what is wrong. Point them in the right direction and hope they head that way eventually. Other than that you pretty much have to weather the storm.

Trust me it does get better it just takes a few years.

 

Thanks Chris....It sure is hard on the family in the mean time.
My wife was in tears yesterday, then screamed at her, then cried some more.
I neither screamed or cried, but was just pissed off at her.
This morning I took her to school, got her a new locker, lock, and talked to her principal, teachers etc.

I am hoping she turns herself around.
I love her, but its hard somedays.

 

Well mine are both grown now. Sometimes their choices still make me shake my head but they are adults. My oldest is 27, two kids and single. The younger, one kid, single as well. Within the last year both went through nursing school and are now nurses and both are working.

 

Saleenguy: Our daughter is 27 now and beginning to turn into a human being! We never had the same level of trouble as so many of our friends had with their female offspring. My wonderful wife was always watching and I was home every single night and weekend after work.

If you can hang on for another decade to 15 years, your "little angel" probably will turn into a loving and completely productive member of society. Grit your teeth, hug your wife every day and live through it, it is possible.

After watching this story many, many times as a High School teacher, I have come to the conclusion this 'young lady problem' is based on certain behavioural genes being over expressed. These young girls are predisposed to get into trouble by their DNA. They take a lack of cooperation to a sporting extreme. They are often attracted to dangerous young (athletic) males - the type of young guy that would have protected the tribe from hyenas and lions. Many young girls show their risk taking by 'acting out' until they can get into bigger trouble with those risk taking young males. 40,000 years ago most of the wild young guys were killed off quickly.... not so anymore. It was critical that the wildest young guys reproduce before being killed, otherwise there would be no new crop of expendables to protect others...

So, let me repeat: Hang on, keep her out of trouble as much as you can. What about a GPS permanently locked to her ankle? HaHa. No parties without trusted parents on duty. No sleepovers at other homes. No anything! Get to know her friends if possible.

She will thank you in the end (age 35+)

PS. One father I know pays $20 per week to a levelheaded friend of one of his offspring. The 'chaperone' is on duty 24 hrs per day keeping the wild offspring out of trouble. There are bonuses for extreme saves and the system is no secret to all concerned. It has worked well for 5 years so far.
