My fuel pump went out...the hanger is in great condition and the sender works so I'm considering just replacing the pump. Is there any way to get the stock "filter sock" off the module? It seems permanently attached with one of those one way metal push nut style fasteners. It looks like if I try to force it off I'll crack the plastic module. Any hints or help? TIA!
Can not tell you if its exactly the same, but I've done my E350 cutaway several time, and with that, you need to replace the entire unit.
I know the stock 150s and 250 are different, but my point is.........you should replace the pump sock with a new one, its apart, its there, and the sock filter is only like $10 if you don't have the "pump unit" in your van.
" Fuel Filter, In-Tank
The inlet of the venturi pump (part of the fuel delivery module) has a nylon filter on it to prevent dirt and other particulate matter from entering the system. Water in the fuel tank can pass through the filter without restriction. This filter is not serviced as a separate component. "
Yeah that's what it looks like...I figured since the Walbro replacement pump kits I've seen come with a new sock filter that there might be a trick to replace it even though it is "unserviceable". I'm not going to mess with it for now...I bought the whole Motorcraft/Airtex replacement assembly, which hopefully will work well. Thanks for the replies.
