Did the bigger truck engines have bigger displacement. I know of a F600 for 200 bucks, not much of the truck, but drive train is all there. I have a Mercury already, so I have the merc crank. I'm just wondering if this engine is worth getting?
the F6 should have the 239 CI if its a flathead V8, or it could also have a straight six in it??
you say F600 so is it a 1953 truck? it would also most likely have the 239 CI flathead if its the V8. its a gamble if all you can use is the engine, if it's cracked then you have a lot of truck to deal with and no usable parts. but probably worth close to that $200 just in scrap??

I just picked up a fairly decent 52 F6 with running flathead 239 CI ( well I got it running after the fact) with a hydraulic dump for not much more than that. needs brakes and a few minor things to be driveable. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...e-home-f6.html
It could be the larger 354 flathead which was used in the bigger trucks and I don't think there is much of a market for those big chunks of iron and parts would be hard to come by.
The 53 F-600 is either a 239 V-8, or 254 straight 6. The 54 F-600 is likely a 256, rarely a 239, and sometimes a straight 6. Same for the 55, and the 56 is either the 272, or the straight 6, but the 56 could be had in LD, and HD 272's.
