Its time for some new tires. I gotta 06 250 4x4. I haul a 28 ft. enclosed racecar trailer. I got a 2.5" lift in the front and 3" in the rear and was looking for some suggestions on tires and sizes. i was thinking on getting a little bigger tire to kinda fill the gap from the lift but need to stick with load range "E" for hauling i believe. my current tires are stock bfg 245/75/17 and they have lasted me about 25,000 miles. the rear tires are worn pretty bad(from hauling racecar), fronts still got some life in them. i didnt rotate them enough i guess. Any suggestion are greatly appreciated, thanks!!
Are you staying with the 17" wheels? I believe those wheels are 7.5" wide, correct? Your current tire is 31.6" tall with a max load of 3,195@80 psi. Nitto makes the Terra Grappler in the following sizes:
LT285/70R17 E - 32.76" - 3,750@80 psi
LT285/75R17 E - 33.86" - 3,195@80 psi
I go with the LT285/70R17 for the additional load capacity.
I agree with Furian, I would go with a 285 or 295 tire to help fill your wheel wells. That is also the biggest you would want to put on those rims. If you plan on going with a 305 or 315 tire you would need different rims @ 9 in wide. You are right with what you are hauling stay with the Load E tires.
I may differ from Furian on the Nittos though. I had a pair and they are a great tire. I had 295's. But they may be a little aggressive for all the hauling you do. I would consider it an aggressive AT tire. If that is what you want get them. If you haul a lot you may want a little less aggressive tire.
Are you hauling once a month or 3 times a week. That will help you figure it out a little.
Thanks for the suggestions!! i will look into them. Anyone know of a decent online tire/wheel supplier?
