Tailgate won't shut

I have a 96 f250 and my tailgate won't stay shut. It stays up temporarily but doen't fully latch and easiy falls back down. Can i fix or replace anything inside the tailgate? Any suggestions? Thanks

pull it apart and take a look at the internal parts you need a torx head ratchet or something but it's pretty easy i did all my internals "custom" with a welder hahaha

Spray all internals with WD-40, and check alignment. (While you have the can out, do your door linkages also.)
