I think (from my experiences fumbling for switches under the dash at night) that whatever you get ought to have a backlit front panel.
COBRA NIGHTHAWK will be my next radio, even though CONNEX and GALAXY are top of the line in many eyes.
Any truck stop will have one, though going online to Cobra itself will give you a chance to look at what they have and maybe get an improved version.
WEATHER CHANNELS are a "GOTTA HAVE" feature. I used to own a Cobra 29 WX, and except for it being hard to see the panel at night was an excellent choice.
It can easily be tweeked to 12 watts by clipping one diode in the modulation limiter circuit.
I bought the Cobra 18 WX ST II, mainly because it has the weather channels and was not too expensive. I found it online somewhere, I'm thinking maybe Amazon...?
Hard to install ? Hate to short sumthin..Wife gave an O.k to get one as we`re going to speed week at Bonneville salt flats and thats how they communicate. Should be fun.. Is modifying hard?
