Engine Rebuild?

I just posted this somewhere else, but I figured this was better:

Alright, something bad just happened with my truck. Brakes stopped working well, brake light came on, and there was a loud knocking (sounds like metal on metal) coming from what seems like directly in my engine. If I happen to need to rip it apart then I am going to try and go ahead and do a rebuild (maybe upgrade some things: injectors, any other suggestions?) I just rolled over 200K miles. I live in Atlanta and I was wondering if anyone knows someone that would be good for this project. I am not going to be able to do it myself because I don't have the knowledge or the tools or the time. If anyone could offer any suggestions of who might be able to help me out with this, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance for your help.

Whoa there. I doubt you need a rebuild.

What I suspect you have is a blown vacuum pump. It is on the driver's side below the air conditioner. When it goes, it does exactly what you describe.

Yea you guys were right. I definitely overreacted because I was very frustrated and it was late and I had to miss work. The vacuum pump was definitely bad, was completely tore apart. Replaced it this morning for $100 and I'm on my way! Thanks for the wise advice, I am still a little new to this.
