Starter??
1991 Ford Ranger 3.0 . When I go to start I hear what sounds like electricity arcing somewhere. Then the motor will turn over. It did this a few times. Now it just clicks and will not turn over.

You have a solenoid that is mounted on the inside of the passenger side of the engine compartment. It sounds like it is defective. Try by passing it and see what happens. If the starter starts cranking the engine, the solenoid should be replaced. Its simeple to do and not expensive. Just disconnect the positive cable from the battery while you are replacing it.
