hi everyone, newbie here from Florida. I wanted to ask all you '09 owners if you have a hitch or are considering one where would you get it from. And is it easier to put it on yourself or have someone do it instead. Also will they hitch that is sold @ wally world fit the newer 09. I've got a F-150 STX X-cab that my husband bought me. Any info will help. thanks!!!
Please do not get one of the multi fits from any retailer. Get a custom one piece no drill and you can install it yourself or have someone do it for you.
U-Haul should be fine, most towns have what I call a "pro installer". If you let me know your location I can probably recommend someone, in many places U-Haul is the Pro Installer. Since I like to see the commerce members on here supported I will not post a brand or installer on the forum, only via PM. I hope that answer does not get me in forum trouble.
etrailer.com is a great source and has front and rear bolt-on hitches that fit the '09's. It takes about 30min or so to do. (It helps if you have a floor jack available and/or a couple of buddies to help hold it in place while you get it started.) I've used them for years. Steve
Most anyplace that sells trailers, travel trailers, or trailer parts and supplies retailer can sell and install if necessary a proper hitch on your truck. And they'll be cheaper than your local Ford store. You just need to check the yellow pages in your area. Reese, Draw-Tite, and Hidden Hitch are all good quality names. Just make sure you get a Class IV hitch made for your truck so that there is no drilling involved. It makes the install easier. It's always easier to have someone else do the work.
