Rough ride after having rear conversion kit installed
I recently had my rear lls suspension converted to springs and now whenever I ride over a bump in the road it feels as though the shocks aren't working (absorbing the blow). Is this normal or could my mechanic possibly installed the springs wrong or forgotten to re-connect something? Any help / advice / feedback is greatly appreciated.

You removed the air suspension and replaced it with springs.
Get used to it-that's how it's gonna ride now.

I replaced the 4 wheel LLS on my 97 (did the whole conversion myself) and it rode just fine. I sat just a bit higher and had a tighter feel when cornering, but the ride was nice. It was actually a bit better because all the new bushings and stuff made it feel new and solid. What kind of shocks did you use? Are they some kind of off road shocks or just the stock type?
I owned the vehicle for 10 years and never replaced he shocks. After speaking with a few people today I was advised to replace the shocks. Any advice out there to whih brand shocks I should purchase?
people seem to love Bilstein, I don't remember which brand I used, but they were a popular name and their premium model stock replacement. Sorry I don't have more info.
Yup, change those 10yr old shocks, also check your tie rod end links and the front and rear swaybar bushings.
I installed a set of sway bar bushings from energy suspension which made big difference in handing as well when I did my conversion.
I just put 4 Bilstein's on my 02 Expy XLT....boy are they nice. Did the install myself....all were pretty easy except the rear drivers side....the top shock bolt is in a tight spot over the gas tank. Overall, not a bad install. You should be able to do it yourself.
Thank you and everyone else who replied. I now have my weekend assignment. Overall I like the way the truck is sitting however I am ansious to see if replacing the shocks will help absord the way the vehicle is currently handling bumps.
