250 351w Engine ?'s

I have a '84 F-250 with the 351w and this carb. is killing me on fuel consumption. I'm thinking of making the switch to fool injection.
But I'm debating on how I want to go about it.(input needed)
I'm thinking about using Fords throttle body injection to save from changing too much.(don't know how much MPG change there will be)
Also debating on going full multi-port (pre-mass-air) as the parts to do so are available.
Will I need to change the heads to go m-p?
Any help or input would help me decide.
Thank you in advance!

You won't save enough on gas with any of those alternatives to see any sort of payback
within the next, oh, say, 40 years.

You haven't given any specifics about your current gas mileage, transmission, gears or use
of this truck but I'll suspect your MPG is in the 7-12 range. If gas mileage is your true
motivator for changing things, ensure there are no other driveline issues that might be
contributing to you problem, and then fix or rebuild your carburetor.

I also have an 84 F250 with a windsor that is a dog all the way around bad power bad mileage. I think the main problems with these is the cam timing, feedback carb, and terrible compression and heads. I just keep my eyes open for a smashed up early 90's F250, the good thing is the 84 is EEC-IV so an injected windsor and OD trans will swing right in if you get the computer too.

I agree with the other poster, a heavy truck with big tires, c6 tranny and 4.10 gears is not going to get great fuel mileage no matter what fuel system you have on it.

A carb rebuild would be the order of the day, and if you really wanted to go with fuel injection, I would get a used Holley pro-jection system off of ebay.

Well the motor runs strong, but the 4-speed manual with granny(basically 3-speed) doesn't help.I am sure a 5th gear would help some. Its 2wd and I am averaging about 7 or 8 mpg. Stock tire size 235/85/16 and 3.73 gears on a non-floating dana 60. I use it just for commute for now.
My uncle has a newer truck same engine but multi-port and he's getting around 13 or 14 mpg with an auto tranny and 3.55 gears.

I'd be happier with 10-12 or more.
Love the power this thing makes.

I use my F250 with the windsor as a commuter mostly (the towing duties have gone to the diesels now). I have been getting roughly 12mpg around town, 15 on the highway with a c6, 3.55 gears, and 265/75/16s. It's okay considering the size of the truck. Adding a 5th gear and/or gear changes would be a more economical route to take than going fuel injected.
