i need to know how to set or adjust a motorcraft carburetor. i have a 390 with 2bbl motorcraft carb that wont idle and id like a little bit of help please and thanks!!
it will stay running aslong as i keep pumping the pedal or push it but when i let off of it it will idle for a second but then it cuts off. i jus put this carb on it and a ford man told me that it just needs to be adjusted(idle and mixture screw) but i found the screws and im fixing to try to set it then i will get back at you'll and update you on the progress thanks!!
(1) Engine off take the mixture screws in to just lightly seating and back out 1.75 turns CAUTION: "do not screw them al the way in to tight" (2) Bring it up to temp. (3) Check/set timing. (4) If automatic, set the park brake and chock the wheels. (5) Restart it and put in D have someone help to keep the idle up if need be until you can manually do it at the carb bring it to 600rpm (it should idle good enough to run on it's own by this point) if not... plan on some investigation with a vac gauge and other tools. Thanks for all the help!!! The trucks running great. My problem was i had to adjust a screw that moved a rod which regulates the fuel. It idles fine and fires up on first turn! Once again I[B]REALLY[B] appreciate all the help. I will deffinately comeback for help on any problems in the future!!
