Ok so I am taking a week of leave this week and I will be doing the remaining mods to my truck. As you may have guessed, this includes the foil delete. I've gathered alot of great information as far as removing the foil and the adhesive. Now, my question is about the IC pipes themselves. Is there anything else that I need to remove to take off both IC pipes? I am going to take off both, clean up the pipes and the boots, and I may paint them to match my truck. I don't want to make this harder than it has to be, so any advice you can give to getting them off and then back on again would be great. Thanks in advance ladies and gents.
There's a rubber boot on each end of the pipe. Use a deep 7/16" socket and loosen the clamps, then just pull the pipe out. If you're in a dusty environment, stuff a rag in the holes to keep things clean.
Things to keep in mind. The foil can be sharp and cut you, so wearing a set of leather gloves while removing it is a good idea. Also, a little hairspray on the ends of the pipes or inside of the boots will provide a tacky surface for when you put things back together.
Cleaning it takes some time, but overall, the foil delete is one of the easier mods.
Ok great, so there is nothing to get out of the way before you can take out the IC pipes?
No, the tubes are what's in the way of everything else. If you end up pulling valve covers or anything down the road, you'll have to remove the tubes first to get them out of the way.
Also, don't be surprised when you see motor oil inside the tubes. Completely normal.

My IC boots on the passenger side was really stuck on there and the clamp was turned to the radiator side so it was hard to get a socket on it. But once I got them off, I turned all the spring clamps up so I could get to them easily and tighten them as part of my routine maintenance.
Just wondering.. What steps are involved in painting the IC pipes? Everyones looks so clean and neat. I have very little painting or even drawing skills so I was just wondering.
