now there is some things that im detecting she starting to burn a little oil u can smell it every now then. right around 3000 ill have to add a qt. she dont seem to have surge to pull like my other one. i guess u can say larthgic, but it still pull up to hwy speed. i dont see any smoke out the pipes and it isnt rattling. i here a taping noise i think its in valve train. its not real noticeable. just whent over 200,000 on the luk clutch i think its slowly giving up.
im not here to bash dzl. im here to ask ur selves if it is worth buying a dzl? fact 1# dzl is almost 7,000$ option. fact #2 dzl fuel is higher than gas national average at this current time. fact #3 dzl engine is more exspenve to repair.
fact 1 according to motortrend or trucktrend. it will take u over 100,000 miles to recover that 7,000 option. now this dont take in account in what state ur in. id say pretty close. so if u sell ur dzl say around 50,000 u have more less lost money. now this not counting any repairs. i think in the next round emissions [i think 2010] i figure dzl option will go up another 1000$ like the last round.
fact 2 read close on this fact i think going to bad news coming in dzl fuel. dzl fuel is in high demand in europe they use more dzl than we will and that trend is not going to change. [we trade dzl for gas from over there] emissions is going to hit dzl in 2010. if u remember dzl was below gas before the last round. every body says dzl is nothing more than byproduct, yes that is true but it has to be refined to get the sulpher out that cost money. so u myswell figure it will go up in the next round. also as u all no the big 3 will be pushing half ton p/u wif dzl. of the americans are going to buy them like candy. = more demand for dzl. the trk industry is going to keep growing = more dzl. there will be more dzl cars = more dzl. why all this happing? WE DONT HAVE REFINING CAPICTY TO MEET THE DEMAND. of corse we dont wanna leave the gov. out this. who will they tax 1st? dzl.
fact 3 mercy fuel injectors are not cheap! im sorry, if dzl are that great why dont we 500,000 miles warrentys? i can get the same warrenty as dzl. im not impressed. dzl fuel millage has been going down hill wif all this garbage that auto co,s have to put on them to pass pipe sniffers. have they been reliable? well, i dont think so. at least what im seeing on farious issues seems like fuel related issues. now im hering emission rearing its ugly head. the exspense to repair seem to off set or gains on fuelmilage.
yes dzl might pull better and get some what better fuelmilage, but do u think mabe it isnt all that great looking at the way i do. v-10 is starting to look more appealing now at 325,000 later
thats a awesome figure.. and the fact it eats 1 quart of oil at 3000miles/change its hardly worth noting...
if i were u i'd own that truck till she rusted away back to mother nature.. sounds like u got urself a keeper..even if i needed a heart transplant..
Now as for the post...It depends on what your needs are. I can't see a V10 pulling 17K lbs of hay for very long through hilly terrain. Now not to say I have tried it because I haven't, but to me, the 7.3 PSD is just a tried and proven engine and has been reliable for me throughout it's 213K miles.
Each to their own I guess,
