Hi everyone. My wife has given me the go ahead on a truck and we are looking at an '02 250 Lariat CC with 119000 miles. We actually put some money on it to hold it so the dealer shop can service it and detail it as well since it was a very very recent trade in.
My question is this.... we started it up and let it idle for awhile and after about 5 minutes there was a swooshing noise that sounded like some kind of a rotational noise.
Anyone have any experience with this? We love the way the truck looks and the price seems right.... just hope that it drives really well too. Should find out in a couple of days once the shop is done.
Could be the fan as well. I've noticed that the fan clutch will stay locked up unless you rev it up or drive for a block or two. If that is indeed the case, then it's completely normal.
A quick looksee under the hood while it was running may have helped point you in the right direction.
The fan will kick in depending on how warm it is outside and how long the truck has been running, pulling heavy loads etc. It does sounds like a "Swooshing" noise and usually quits after the RPMS have been brought up and ran a bit. IT will increase a little as you accellerate until enough air flow is moving through.
