4 wheels to 6

I have a 94 F-350 hd 4x4 and I want to make it a dually. What do I need to do? I dont want to use the spacers that some guys use because I heard/seen what happens when there under heavy load, and my trucks a work truck. Are the rear axles the same width? The front doesnt look like it could be but I've been wrong before. Also I have a rotted out 90 F-350 4x4 dually if I need to can I swap in the axles?
BTW this forum is so helpfull I can't beleive I havent used it this much before.

I'm sorry I can't be more help but I was wondering why you would want to turn your truck into a dully?

probably to be able to tow a bigger load im assuming? youll probably have to get the wheel tubouts that the dually trucks have since i know the dual wheels will stick out. im not sure on the axle size part but i know the dually is a heavier duty axle

Shes a work truck so I want her to be able to carry more weight and also run a bigger plow in the winter. Also duallys tow way better and I tow a 13000# trailer pretty often.

There are 2 different Dually axles.A Dually Cab and Chassis has a very narrow axle and won`t fit under a pickup frame.A dually pickup has a very wide axle and will fit no problem but you will need the big dually fenders. The easiest way is to put longer studs on your axle and mount the dually wheels, they will stick out an inch or 2 so a set of rubber flares will cover them.

My rear axle is the hd one and the hubs and studs look just like a dually axle studs are real long and the huge hubs. But what about the front end?

I thought the dually's from 92+ had 10 lugs not 8 like his E350 van would have... could be wrong but something to check.

Also, the offset of the dually wheels is rather extreme as compared to the E-van's SRW wheels, so that's something to measure up before purchase as well.

The F-series have their shocks inboard (inside the frame) but I'm not sure about the van's - if they're inboard as well then swapping an F-series dually axle over should be a piece of cake, but if not then you'll for certain have clearance issues unless you rivet, bolt or weld on the F-series shock hangers inside the frame.

You might consider changing the front spindles as well, so you can use the dually wheels up front. This allows you to have one spare that fits in all six locations, whereas if you retain your existing front spindles, you'll have dually rims for the rear, and "ordinary" rims for the front, and they're not interchangable based on offset, and probably the number of lugs as I guessed above.

If you really want to run budd wheels on front you will need to put the dually hubs on front. If you want the look but do not care about budds on the front get a set of Pacific Dually`s stainless simulators, they pop on just like hubcaps and the front ones will fit a non dually wheel.I had a set on a GMC that only had budds on the back and you could not tell that the front wheels were not budds.

F 450 and 550 are 10 lug F350 is still 8 lug.

...where did the part about a van come in?...i thought he has a 1 ton pickup already and just wants to go dual rear wheels instead of single...if im reading this correct all you will need is the wheels and the dualy fenders or else go flatbed...and most states require mud flaps for dual wheels...am i reading this post wrong?...redzone...

No I just want to make a single rear wheel 94 F-350 into a dually. I have a 90 F-350 dually that I can take parts off of. And yes I'm planning on making it a flatbed and running mud flaps to cover them up.
