I have a 94,5 f 250 with a ZF 542 Electronic spedo.
I'm replacing the trany,A guy has a 1989 zf 542 with a 7 tooth speedo connection
Acording to some research the electronics came out in 1992
Can I adapt my electronic speedo to the 7 tooth model
My model 1307-050-108
His 1307-050-056
The VSS in the rear axle not only supplies info for the speedometer/odometer but the ABS system also uses it. Why mess with it, just continue to use it and plug the hole for the speedo drive gear in the 89 trans.
Are you saying I'm currently getting my speedo signal from the rear AXle and If I go to the 99 trans, I don't need to worry about connecting my speedo to the tranny
thanks Jim

Correct! speedo signal comes from the rear axle. Plug the hole in the trans with what ever you can find.
