Does anyone have a pic of a 2 tone truck that has no dent trim or lower (nascar) trim to cover up the paint line, Im thinking of going with a 2 tone but curious about all your opinions about 1 without the trim. post some pics if you got 'em
I guess theres no such thing as a 2 tone with no trim. Well anyways Ive owned many ol fords over the years and my latest is a 79 shortbed, 80000 orig miles, looks like 280000 though, The plus side is, I did graduate from Wyotech in '98 and been doing paint and body ever since, Ive got an idea for the paint scheme, but I dont have any trim (except for the dent trim on a long bed parts truck) (hmmm wonder if i could shorten the bed trim to fit?) Im thinking of close to the original color (tan) but with a little kick and a brown stripe in the middle, and likely the roof also. I think its going to be pretty unique, with an extensive wet sand and buff when its all done. If anyone has any paint questions Id be happy to answer them and could really use the help to find a pic of a "2 tone/no chrome"
I know this is a Ford Forum...but when BMarkline spoke about airbrushing the trim, I couldn't help but recall this from a mag about 2 years ago. ALL of the trim is airbrushed on....a work of art....but your brush man better have skills. You got me thinking about whether I want to put my trim back on now!
All of the trim, including the tailgate trim is airbrushed on. It you had a skilled hand like that artist it could look just as good if not better on the dentside. I think it looks pretty darned good...and you don't have to polish it! I imagine it would cost big $$ though. You can't tell it's not real when you first look at it.
wow, I like the chevy, err wait, the paint! thats pretty cool, wonder if I can do that? half tempted to give it a shot, but you know I have rolls and rolls of unused stick on generic trim in my shop, I didnt even think of that. alsa does make that mirrachrome paint it could be used as well. now Im even more undecided, I also didnt think of the bottom color going all the way down that would really simplify things although I like the normal way better. let me toss a couple ideas around in my mental paint booth. has anyone shortened the dent bed trim from a long bed to fit a short bed? there is that factory break just in front of the light, possibly shortened there?
