Does anyone know if you can switch a short shaft c6 transmission from a 1978 f250 4x4 to a long shaft from my old 1974 2x4 C6 transmission? Please reply someone.... I'm really stumped.

do you want ot know if you can switch the output shafts and tailshaft housings? Answer is yes.

 

yes iv'e done it too. don't undo the large nut on the output shaft, just the bolts and they swap fine.

 

You have to tear down the whole trans to get the tail shaft out, so figure on just rebuilding right then.
