well i locked up the 400 on my 79 1/2 ton 4x4 last weekend. not sure how it happened, but today i found a 87 1 ton 2x4 with a 460 and a 5 speed for 300 bucks. what im needing to find out is what problems im going to run into with the swap. i've got an intake to swap to carb and an external fuel pump. i can probably use the motor and tranny mounts off the donner truck what im wondering about is the fuel injection to carb swap and the 2x4 to 4x4 swap on the tranny. plus what do i need to look out for going from manual clutch to hydraulic.
The good news; the 460 bolts to your 400 transmission.
The bad news; nothing else does. You need swap motor mounts. And the carbed intake will not bolt onto the fuelly heads. There are no carbed manifolds available for the fuelie heads either as far as I know.
