I don't have a clue! I parked my 1993 Bronco 4x4 5.8 last year because of the transmission. I had several offers to sell it but for some reason I never would let it go. Now......I want it running again.
Problem-200,000 miles
symptom1-odometer quit registering.
symptom2-At start up the transmission runs smooth, after about 5 miles if I come to a stop it will not come out of first gear. When the problem first started I could manually shift it up, but not now. Seems like there is not a lot of power in the tranny either.
advice-??? I have had a couple of people tell me that it could be a speed sensor, solenoid, dirty filter.....who knows, I am a complete novice when it comes to this stuff.
I want to get it running again but need some advice before I put a couple grand in it.
after codes are pulled, inspect/replace the sensor on top of the rear diff. if that doesnt fix the problem then perhaps your PSOM is bad or the MLPS solenoid needs replaced.
is your abs light on by chance also? get yourself a haynes manual and do some searches on here and on google for bronco e40d not shifting.
I know this sounds dumb but is there the right amount of fluid in the tranny? did you by chance put the wrong type of fluid in it at one point? what does the fluid look like? is it burnt or gritty? have you pulled the pan and see what you find? if the fluid was not taken care of during the life of the tranny you could have some worn bands or a bad front pump..any tranny shop will hook up your truck and check your line pressure and that will tell you alot about your problem. keep us posted
