Hi folks ... I'm new to Fords and locking hubs in general.
I tried to take the manual locking cap assembly off my '89 F250 with Dana44 IFS HD front axle.
One of the six hex bolts was frozen and the allen wrench stripped it out.
So ... I laid some heat on it, then got it out with a drill bit running in reverse. Got some new exact replacement bolts from the bolt store.
But ... when I put heat on it, I melted the red selector **** a little, so I took that off before putting on more heat.
When the bolt finally came out, I pulled off the cap assembly, and everything went flying (because the red selector **** was off). And now I'm not sure how to put the cap assembly back together. There's the big spring, and a sprocket looking thing, and a little cap that the **** screws into.
Can anyone post a link to a schematic showing how the lock-**** cap assembly goes together? Chilton's doesn't have it.
