What a VERY Nice looking '65!
Glad to see you still get a little work out of the ol' Dude!

I haven't seen one of those old 'window rifle racks' in years! I used to have one in my '65 F-250 in '77-'78.
Can't say I've ever seen CB antennas mounted on either side of the hood like that. Is there a reason for that placement?
So what transmission do you have behind the 390?
What is that "seat belt buckle looking thingy" located midway down the crack between the cab and the box ?

How about sharing a pic of the interior and of the engine compartment?
Keep up the good work!

Welcome to ( FTE )!
Hey thats a real nice truck, and these old trucks sure can haul a Load !
My dad and I used to Haul loads that was Oak split and stack above the Cab , but
on my narrow bed truck, dad would tie that wood till it look like a spider web !
Good to see you still have it in use !

Mine simply had a metal screw at the top and at the bottom of the rack and was black non-marking, rubber-coated.
I recall hanging everything from a hat, to bungie cords, to a section of tie-down rope, and even had my .22 cal. rifle (in a soft-sided rifle case, unloaded) riding up there for a while back in the day. I didn't leave it there for long though, because I'm sure day in & day out travel would likely cause rub/wear on any rifle if left in the rack.
If anyone has seen one like that for sale somewhere, I'd like to find another one myself.

the truck is a 66 custom cab with a 4 speed an was a 352 (now a 390)with the original oil bath heater hoses alt rad hoses you name it i painted it abou 8 yrs ago an have been trying ta tear that paint job up ever since i bought it about 9 yrs ago an it only had 90k miles on it now she is creeping up on 190k its one of the nicest driving old trucks ive ever driven...an pulls like a freight train its got 4 11 gears an a limited slip also had a aprayed in bed liner done in body color after i painted it the deer guard is for a 79 wtch bolts right on witch we need in this country i think i paid more fo it than i did the truck course i think every thing i did to the truck cost me more than i paid for it witch was about 400$
the gun raks were in it when i bought it i will try ta get some more shots of the interior its got the duel beer coolers in the doors or thats what i call em the zipperd door pockets so far its the only one ive ever seen with em on both sides course i need ta clean the interior out b4 i shoot some pics cuz ive got more junk on the dash an seat than you would find in a hardwhere store

Ahhh, camper tiedowns...as I suspected, but I wanted to confirm my suspicions.

I suspect it's the T-18 4-speed with the granny 1st gear. Those babies are tough!
I really like the body color bed liner too.
Sure sounds like it has been a good truck for ya! That is a F250, correct?

--- We'll be here patiently waiting for you to clean it up a tad & give us more pictures!

This rack was very common...once. I wouldn't use one today...even to hang my hat on.
Why?
Because it's an indicator someone has guns. You just don't know....who might follow you....to see where you live.
Unless you have a Sharps Old Reliable "Big 50" with a 36" barrel, most rifles will fit under the seat....hidden from prying eyes.
