That will depend on the exact equipment, but you should have no problem with 2000 pounds in the bed as a minimum, probably more will be just fine.

i put ov er 8K in my bed, granted it was only for ONE mile. it pulled it like it wasnt there. I do not advise you trying that much in the bed for any length of a trip b/c you risk sheering the wheel studs off. mine was about 3-4 yards of trash rock off of our concrete material yard.

was concearned about the dry rotted tires on the truck, they were bulged out over an inch, springs and overloads were flat... our operator put almost a full 5 yard bucket out of a komatsu 450 front loader in there, he wouldnt put the rest of the bucket in there b/c he said that ol junky thing would not handle it...

Aw well, better safe than sorry. The most I've ever moved was a few loads of hay bails. The truck was heaped over the cab and I also pulled a 20' trailer also heaped over. Most of the time I move big, bulky, but lightweight things with my truck.

I hauled a load of bricks to the dump last summer that weighed just under 10K. The heaviest I've towed behind it was a log skidder on an equipment trailer that weight around 40K lbs.
I've pull started a couple of trucks that were over 100K lbs, but thankfully I didn't have to stop them.

Hey Jason, you're not trying to pull our leg are ya? No photos right?

I'm just messing with you. In reality how much you can move with these trucks often has more to do with your own skill and nerve than anything else. Traction also plays a role.....

According to the owners manual for 1986, you can move up to 11,500lbs I think depending on the powertrain configuration. Add a turbo, hydroboost and maybe more is possible. Most I've ever had to move was probably only 5000.

I never seem to think about taking pictures until after the fact. I finally have a cell phone with a camera, so maybe that'll change.

The only one I could have taken a picture of was the brick load. I didn't think it was all that heavy until I started up the hill to the dump. When I saw the weight come up on the scales, I couldn't believe it was that much.

Looking back, moving the skidder wasn't the smartest thing to do. I was helping a friend finish a logging job. His truck broke down and all that was left to move was the skidder. So, I hooked to the equipment trailer, backed off the brakes and hauled it to his next job. I would start out in low range, 1st. make the shift to 2nd and then shift from low range to 2wd and shift the trans back to 1st, which was murder on the transfer case.

Some of You Guys are looking for a world of hurt. If You get caught, or worse, get in an accident (The law prolly wouldn't call it an accident). You'd be seriously FUBAR'd.

Be safe out there!
