If you jump to a 3.73 you'll see a huge power increse but itll prolly drop your mileage down to around 12. Also with these calculators you can figure out the RPMs youll be spinning to do 65 on the highway. Currie Enterprises Calculators#?
Well I've never driven a six banger, so I dunno Id guess right around 12 or 13. I do know that my 94 F-350 with a slightly modified 351W and non overdrive trans with 4.11s gets about 12 if im gentle around town. My truck does weigh in at 5500 pounds though so.
You don't need 4.10 for the 4.9 unless you have really large tires. That is a complete mismatch for the 300 inline 6. It makes low end power and doesn't need any more than 3.55 gears. The 4.9 doesnt make high rpm power. If your truck had a 302 or 351 then I would suggest 3.73. I probably wouldn't suggest 4.10 for a daily driver with stock or near stock tires.

That's my vote too, 3.55 for this combo. An I predict milage will go up not down, you should see an easy 20mpg highway.
thanks for all the input guys, but im really just looking for better acceleration. mileage doesnt matter a whole lot, but im still taking it into consideration. so what would be the best acceleration without completely killing my mileage?
26in tires with 538 gears should give you some good acceleration to about 50mph which might be your top speed in OD... LOL ...With 30in tires i would go with the 355 to unless your planing on using biger tires . You could go 373s but i dont think you will feel that much difference . It all depends on how much you want to spin the rpm on a 4.9 .. Lew
thats one thing i was thinkin about today, i have a 2.73 right now and drive a manual. i dont know what a higher gear set would do to my rpms. ive decieded not to go 4.10 im kind of leaning towards 3.73 or 3.55. is there that big of a difference between the two?

The 2.73 should get you around 1700RPM @ 60MPH and a 4.10 badboy should get you around 2150RPM@ 60MPH.
