I just bought a 93 F-250 IDI it has a banks sidewinder turbo wastegated I believe it runs pretty good but I really would like to get that turbo to throw you back in you seat more like the newer strokers I have a 2005 6.0L work truck and would like to have the 93 get that turbo kick like the 6.0 Ive heard about Turning up the IP(Dont know what that stands for) but my Pyrometer get up to about 9 when going 80 and pulling a hill so I dont know if thats a wise option, who makes perfomance parts for these truck and what can I do to kick it in the .

is your ptro located pre turbo? or post turbo? most people mount it in the driver side exaust manifold as far back as possible cause thats right on top of the cylinders and thats were you get the most acurite reading from, ways to make more power well turn fule up is a way, just watch the pyro, make a ram-air intake, out a k/n airfilter in the airbox, make a free flowing exaust and turn the boost up, 15psi of boost is the max you want to run on a 7.3 with headbolts, headstuds will get you higher, if you want more you could put an intercooler in it, or if you wanted to spend about 4500 dollars you could build a Dave Sponaugle motor which would probly keep up with that 6.0L if not out run it
Thanks for the Help what company makes perfomance parts for the IDI's cause the only thing banks has is the wastgated turbo and 4" exhaust wich this truck already has
I forgot to mention, you can get used intercoolers from later powerstrokes for much less. Heard of them going for under $200 sometimes. A bit of fabbing involved though.
What are you getting for turbo boost right now? How about exhaust smoke at full power?
If you are seeing 900 after the turbo, that would be equal to 1200 in the cylinders.
That is almost hot enough to melt the pistons.
Does it still have the stock air intake over the drivers side battery?
A ram air intake that is larger and gets cool air from in front of the radiator will drop the EGT's a little.
Next step is a boost gauge to see how much you are running now.
A little more boost may drop the EGT a bit more, but you need to know what you have for boost pressure before you make any changes.
As far as performance parts, you make your own other that injection pumps and injectors.
Its Gotten better since I got in a custom air intake I basically scrapped the Banks cover but a New K&N and just hose clamped it tight to the intake also the 900 was with a load of cows in the trailer so normally just drivin I dont see that..so who would I buy injectors from and how $ and how much horsepower gains
You can go with code E injectors which are the highest flow stock injectors. I've heard that DPS injectors do dump more fuel in, but they sacrifice economy even at mild power settings. There are some multiport injectors being developed for these engines that will flow more than DPS and offer better atomization than OEM injectors, but those are expected to be close to $80 each if I remember right.
The code E injectors combined with a modified pump will probably be able to overfuel your engine rather easily.
I really want to caution you that until you find out what your turbo boost is, you might not be able to go much higher. If you are already near 15 PSI ar full power, your head gaskets will not hold for long. Head studs will be needed.
Also, is your fuel screw maxed out yet?
900 post turbo EGTs means that any more fuel or boost you stuff in now, will mean you can only use that power intermittently to prevent damage. You might want to consider an intercooler before any other upgrades.
