Power Mirrors
I've googled this and searched here and can't seem to find it...Does anyone happen to know off hand, or could point me in a direction where I can find out, if those puddle lights under the mirrors were an option back around '97? I'm mulling around changing the power mirrors on my Explorer to ones with the puddle lighting if it's possible, but I don't want to get into a rewiring job.
I'm wondering out loud if it was an option on the EB or Limited, that my XLT might have the wiring already there but just not connected somehow.

The puddle lights weren't available until about 03 or so. You would need to run wires to the mirrors if you get the newer ones with the lights. Just find some of the interior light wires to tap into on each side for the mirror lights. Sounds like a nice upgrade. Our 07 "500" has those lights and they're nice to have.

I like the idea...had them on my '01 Explorer Sport (2dr, not the Trac) and that's what inspired me to think about it. I have still been nosing around and it seems that they make "a" power mirror that fits the 95-01 Explorer that HAS the lamp. Not sure if it's OEM or not though. I have a friend in the Ford parts business, so maybe I'll run it by him and see if it's OEM. If so, maybe I can junkyard raid for a pair that will be in good shape.
