Well I've been thinking of some easy ways to improve the in your face look. Has anyone painted the entire grille black before, meaning no polished aluminum or what ever it is showing. I did a little messing with photoshop to see how it would look, I think it looked pretty good. I just want to know if anyone has done this to their truck, if so pics.
You will just have to search through the pics b/c there are a couple of them like that. I seen a few of them yesterday while looking. If I can remember there years of them I'll let you know.
I think it looks most aggressive if you keep the grille surround shiny aluminum (or chrome, or silver flake) and paint just the plastic inserts black. If you use cheap spray paint, it will fade in the sun. It also looks good to paint the grill surround the same color as the truck, and paint the inserts black.
My grille inserts are already black.I might just try and polish the aluminum to get a good shine out of it and see how it looks.
If it's original you have to remove the anodizing before polishing with do anything. I have heard you can remove the annodized coating with draino. But once you do that, you will need to polish is regularly to keep it shiny.
eagle one makes a product called NEVR-DULL. restores that chrome trim to a brilliant shine. then if u washed it once a month and used turtle wax chrome polish on it u shouldn't have anymore problems

Most if not all the chrome trim on these trucks is anodized. Polishing anodized metal doesn't yield great results. You can strip the coating, but it's a major pain.
I personally think it would look better with the grill surround matching the truck color, but I imagine you would have to repaint the entire truck to get it looking right.
Not too bad though. I'd paint the FORD letters black too while you're at it!

Yeah If I painted it the color of the truck it wouldn't look right becasue my paint sucks. I plan on doing a dupli color paint shop job on it with the help of my friends dad. I have to do a decent amount of rust repair though and some body work. I want to french the rear tails and have a smooth tailgate and a rear valence. That and get her on the ground, RWD should live close to the ground.
