There was a recall on the parking brake cables on these trucks. The recall came out in 2001 i think but was for previous year trucks.... It might take some digging but you should try and find the info on it.
Wow. That sux big time. Nothing productive here just sympathizing. Cleaned and dried properly you "should" be ok but others will chime in. Good luck bro!
That sucks. Good Luck. If they do fix it, make sure you let the dealer know you are worried about the green death. try to get them to replace all carpet and seats, dont want to smell mildew for years to come.
did you get pictures of it in the river. Just morbid curiosity. Sorry.
sorry to hear that man, that sucks. i work at a salvage yard and well will fix stuff thats rolled over and sell them, but we have never fixed a flooded vehicle. its realy a pain.
I'm at a loss for words this su**s seem to be not enough.I am so sorry bro. Definatly talk to the adjuster and mention about your concerns about future corrosion.
If they decide to total it, make sure you have a conversation with the adjuster about the value of your mods. No extra money for the 4" exhaust? Tell him you'd like to pull it off before they take it. I had a 99 that got totaled. Took off the Ranch hand bumpers, steps, tool box, head ache rack, bed rail covers, and they only knocked $100 off the claim. I've put these same parts on my current truck.
Edit: Did the cable snap, or did the brakes just slip? You've got me thinking now since I might one day be in the same situation.
no pics 911 called and said truck was in the river it was half way out when i got there. water is up like 15 feet due to recent rain were it was at is useually the river bank if river was normal it wuld have just rolled into a tree still not good tho. the ebrake foot pedal broke it wont stay down now if i push it down it may stay or may pop back up.
ok i heard from the dealer today and they said it started up and ran fine. i dont see how as the computer was under water for over a hour they acted like flush the fluids and it will be fine. in my opinion anything submerged should be replaced. computer wireing harness sensors etc. it was muddy gritty water too. what should i do or say they said they will have it in for a full evaluation in a day or too like i said water was up too bottom of seat so everythin below was under water for over a hour thats culda drastically shortened the life of my new cluch and throwout bearing new wheel bearings brakes and god only knows what else

It may be fine now, but in a month or so it may not be. I wouldn't worry tremendously about the clutch and wheel bearings as much as I would the wiring. I'd have a good talking to with the ins. company and ask that they replace all the wiring harnesses, at the least the engine harness and the in-cab harness, PCM, IDM, and carpet at least.
The problem is, will the air bags go off in an accident. Ask the insurance co. to sign a paper saying they are taking full responsibility for the safety features. Might help you get it totaled.
This is not legal advise, just what I would be worried about.
I wouldn't accept it unless you get some kind of agreement that as Miller_feed said, all safety items are OK and, I wouldn't sign a final agreement unlees it gives you some time, like 6 months or whatever you can get, to make sure nothing fails due to this. Water can seap into the weirdest places and take time before the damage is done.
