Question Air conditioning ???

Today my truck started doing something weird. When you turn the key with the air on I always hear a thump from a flap I guess. Well today I heard the thump and when I started it up with the air on high I hear a blum, blum, blum like the flap has lost vac. I guess has anyone ever experienced this??? Then after a bit it quite's down. But I wanna know what it is that's just the way I am. Thanks ahead!!

It's probably the valve. You will hear the same noise whenever you turn the A/C on, not just when starting the truck. It may not have had enough vacuum to move the valve when you started it up this morning. Did you hear your vacuum pump running as well?

The vacuum pump is located on the pass. fender under the hood. You should see the vacuum hoses going to it.

If you had a loss of vacuum (or a leak), your ventilation would go to defrost mode as that's the door position for 0" of H20 (vacuum).

Yeah, that's usually the noise you hear when turning on the air since when it's off there is 0 vacuum so it starts out as defrost and then moves to the vents.

What makes the popping noise then a leak maybe? How do you know if the pump is working by looking? What should I look for since the noise is only when on HI and it drives me nuts!! But then it goes away??

The popping noise is a valve changing position. The pump should be making a noise when it's operating. Pull the vacuum hose off that comes off the pump and goes to the black vacuum reservoir. It should immediately start pumping. If not, your pump might be bad.
