i have a late 99 f350 with the 7.3 4x4 and i just took a scan tool to it and got p0470 exhaust pressure system somthing
i took the ebps and tube off to clean it. i found a rusting crack going halfway around the tube.
i just want to know if this is contributing to my poor fuel economy(12-15) when its usualy 18-22. and also if i can duck tape the hole for a couple of days untill i can get a tube and maybe a sensor?
i have to drive it everyday but only for 10 minutes at a time.
thanks for the help

My GOD man. You were getting that MPG in a F-350 4x4??? That is about the best I have heard of.
You can also take some JB WELD and fix the leak on the tube.
the truck is chipped and piped and filtered. but we have two that get that good of mpg and hear others around these part do aswell.
thats good to hear i can rig it for now i didnt want to be stranded.
can this issue affect the exhaust brake i have or is it ok

Mine's chipped, piped, and filtered too but I don't think I can pull off 18. Wanna come work on mine for me?

It should have no effect on the exhaust brake.
Rather than duct tape use some of the silver metalic tape. It will last longer.
Where axactly is this tube? I've heard it talked about but I don't know where it is to check mine.
(I used to get 18mpg in mine too until I put these wide tires on and now i get closer to 15. Looks good though!)
There is a sensor right in front if the engine that plugs straight down. The tube is bolted right under that and swings around to the front of the passenger side exhaust manifold. 9/16 to hold the mount fitting and a 5/8 to remove the pipe. There is a write up around here with pictures. Do a search and it will pop up. A Curtis
