while i was under the truck taking some pictures and cleaning up for my fluid
change i found this and i think i know what it is i just want another opinion
is it a down pipe leak? this is the passenger side im pretty sure the driver
side has one because i can see it from the top but i couldnt get a good look
at the passenger side from the top.
Looks like the drivers side is leaking but I don't see a leak on the passenger side. They are called up-pipes, not down-pipes. The pipe with all the soot on it is the drivers side.
so it looks like a set of up pipes is in my future, being slightly tight on budget right now can i just drive it like this for a while?
It won't hurt anything to drive it like that. You are just loosing a little boost. Save up for the bellowed up pipes, then you will not have to worry about doing it again.
about how much will the bellowed up pipes set me back?
from what i have read the amount of labor involved in putting new donuts on is pretty high so i should probably just save up for the bellowed pipes and do it right the first time.

Bellows run just shy of $400 IIRC. Contact Clay (Riffraff Performance).

I like how you think.

Wow! I thought my leak was bad.... It looks like the pipe has actually slipped out of the flange a bit. You absolutely should go with the bellowed pipes. Call Clay and he'll hook you up. Well worth it.
here is another picture closer up. it looks like there is some mickey mouse crap going on up there!
i going to take a stab in the dark and say this is not normal?
i cant wait till i find a job so i can take care of this stuff
What you see right there is the heat shield on the up-pipe, both sides have this.
yep i just spent a little while out there under and on the truck and these are the shields. ill try to get some pictures tomorrow the pipes themselfs look really good with just a little bit of leaking going on. ill still probably end up replacing them some time in the future
