B&W turnover installed

This past weekend I went ahead and installed my turnover ball gooseneck hitch. My 93' F350 has been the pulling mule until now but at 255k with a new engine in the works and the tranny getting soft I figured it was time to make the 06' more versatile.

I got the kit on EBAY for $330 delivered. I forget the seller but they are on there all the time. It arrived in 2 days. But I was unable to install it for 4 weeks due to other obligations and travel for work.

First thing I'll say is loosen the bolts on the passenger side of the bed before beginning. Makes getting the crossmembers in so much easier.

Now I am usually very accurate and precise when I am laying things out. I do alot of that at work and have had excellent results with these things in life thus far. Somehow, and I can't figure out how as the correct measurement was engrained in my skull and I measured three times, I cut the hole 1" too far forward. I had to take out my jigsaw and recut the rear of the hole. The correct measurement from the rear of the bed floor is 47" to the center of the hole.

I saved the piece I cut out of the rear of the hole and am going to weld it back on in front of the hitch as the mistake is bugging me. On to the install.

There is a heat shield above the exhaust that is glued to the floor of the bed. You just have to pull it off. Then slide in the crossmembers in the order they go. In my case I loosed the bolts holding on the bed on the passenger side and propped it up about an inch because the crossmembers would not clear the shock mount. Once they were in place I then ran a strap through the hole I had cut and with the help of a friend who unknowing what he was about to get into just happened to drop by. This is when I discovered the hole was in the wrong place as mentioned above.

Once the hole was fixed we pulled the center piece up through the hole and stuck some bolts in it. Then my help left. At least I had help for that part of it. Then I just followed the instructions and bolted everything up. Torqueing the bolts was difficult due to a limited ability to manuever the thing under the truck but eventually everything was torqued.

On my truck ( 06') I had to use the exhaust hanger standoffs that are supposed to be for 08' models to get my exhaust low enough to clear the crossmembers. Either way it fit well and was easy to install. Doing it by myself (mostly) it took longer than it should have but wasn't overly difficult. If I hadn't screwed up the hole it would be perfect. Oh well.

I got lucky....I had a buddy of mine that worked at a trailer shop help me with mine. Except for he refused to measure and cut the hole in the bed...He made me do it... But I got lucky and it went in the right spot first time out. Only took about 30 minutes with the both of us.
