302 valve train preformance

i have a 1990 f250 with a 5.0 so its speed density for one and not the roller block like the mustangs. i have no idea if the heads are the same. can i put 1.7 roller rockers on stock valve spring? will i get coil bind? and if they wont work will 1.6 work? if none will work is it just because the springs arent deep enough?

If it has the stock cam your ok . Just going to give you a little more lift . The springs will be fine . Lew

Yes it is.

Actually is the exact same block as the Mustang, so it is a roller ready block, just doesn't have a roller cam in it from the factory.

Yes they are exactly the same E7TE casting.

Not even close.

1.6 will work too but that's the same ratio as stock.

As far as them clearing the stock valve covers, worst case scenario you will have to cut out the baffles.

Depends on the cam, total valve lift can't exceed about 0.520".

I think the mass air conversion is about a 1000.00 ..Summit . Jegs . E bay . If you go with a biger cam & 1.7 rockers you might want to think about after market heads & long tube headers so it will breath ..Lew

The cheapest way to do a mass air conversion is with junkyard/used parts, get a mustang computer and meter, and a MAF wiring harness that you can pull the extra wires from to add to your existing harness. There are a couple companies that make MAF conversion harnesses as well that are significantly cheaper than the Ford kit, see link..

Forget it. Yank out that 302 and drop in a 351 HO long block. That ought to take care of all your questions.

i would love to have a 351 but i already rebuilt and bored out the 302 with headers and full exhaust. would the 302 top end and headers bolt up to a 351? and does anyone know how far you can stroke a 302 before you half to start notching the block?
