I'd like to from the C6 to the more fuel economic AOD. does anyone have or know where i can find specs on them? what will it take to make the swap happen? it is a bronco with a 302 and a BW 1356 transfer case.
I helped a friend do that swap on his truck.
When using a 4x4 tranny, it bolts up to the xfer case, use AOD torque converter and it bolts up to the C6 flywheel.
the AOD is only about 1/2" longer so the stock mount can be used.
The shift lever was different, the tranny we used came from a car so a truck one might be different, but I just welded an extension on the tranny arm to make it work.
We used a Lokar TV cable, it worked pretty good.
Bolt it up and set up your TV pressure (0-5 psi at idle)and your off.
If you do the swap, do not use a C-6 flywheel. It will damage your tranny. Make sure you get an AOD flywheel. The C-6 and E4OD use one flywheel, but AOD and C-4 use another flywheel.
