What do you folks think about the Ford 4 spd with OD manual tranny that was in the mid-eighties trucks??? I had a 84 F150 that had it, had no problems with it and the truck got great gas mileage. Have a 69 with the t-18 4spd great tranny but do alot of high way type driving and would like to get better cruising (lower RPM's) and better gas mileage.. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated...Bill

My father had that tranny in his 85 F150 with a 302. He put over 400k on that tranny with no probs. (he went through 3 engines though) It performed real well on the highway. Wish I could remember what gears he had in it though. Very nice and dependable tranny. Just my $.02.
