draining torque converter

Is it standard procedure to drain the torque converter when changing transmission fluid? Is that what the transmission chains like AAMCO do or do you have to tell them?

There should be two standard prices for this service.

One explaining the complete removal & replacement of the trans fluid.

If they have the complete done they should use the applicable fluid to fill.
Around here it's about $70.00 CDN

It definately is not a standard procedure to drain the torque converter with a fluid change. They usually take the pan off, install a new filter, new gasket, refill with new fluid. thats all. you can do it yourself for $20-30.

I think the plug in the torque converter has gone the way of the zerk grease fitting. You can drain about 3 quarts or flush through about 15.
