has anybody had a problem with motocraft oil filters not sealing completely ?? i just changed my oil today and i was hoping when i changed the filter it would stop leaking but the leak wont go away not major just a small drip
yeah i made sure wiped it all down nice and clean oiled the new filter and ring just doesnt seem to seal completly in one spot has me confused been like this the past 2 times i used motocraft oil filter
Did you get the filters at the same time/same place? They could have been part of a bad batch. I get cases of light bulbs and ballasts and its seems every once in while you get a bad batch. Just throwing it out there. I have used Motorcrafts from Autozone my last 6 oil changes with no such issue. Good luck finding the problem.
yeah it could be just a bad batch i bought them both from the same walmart i did notice their o rings have more of an angle to them where all the other brands i seen are just flat .....does any one know the part# for the baldwin oil filter my brother is a mechanic at the garbage company and said he can get them for $5 each if not free as long as i can give him a part#
Did you try to tighten it more after it started leaking? I have been using the Motorcraft oil filter every oil change on this truck and the truck before it and I have never had a problem.
i wiped it all clean made sure it was still tight and drove it a little and it seems to have quit leaking so hopefully it was just some excess oil coming off the seal and filter thanks for you input guys i appreciate it
I've been using Motorcraft filters for nearly 20 years. Never had a problem either. Something's up. Out of curiosity, did you fill the new filter with fresh oil? Not that this has anything to do with it, just wondering.....
