You are in the right forum, and Welcome. My cruise went out and had to change the pressure sensor on the brake booster. Look under the brake fluid reservoir and you will see a sensor with a plug in connection. Mine was leaking brake fluid through the connector. I went to Ford and bought a new sensor for 20.00, changed it and all was good. There are more things that could cause what you have. You will get more help soon.
I was hoping you'd say either the speedo was funny, or you had a stick. Unlike the gas motors, to diagnose a cruise control issue on the diesel truck, you need a scanner capable of reading the PSD that can perform a switch test.
About all I can offer is to 1) post up the city and state you're from and see if you're lucky enough to have a fellow FTE member with a scanner to check it for you, and 2) check, clean and lube the contact switches on the e-brake, brake pedal, the round sensor on the bottom of the hydro-boost, and anything else you can think of that might cancel the cruise control during normal driving.
I have a stick and my cruise control just stopped working, what could be the problem?
The common issue is the CPP (clutch pedal position switch). Crawl under the dash and locate the rod that connects to the clutch pedal and goes into a plastic housing next to the fire wall. There's a U shaped clip that you can remove, then pull back and down and the CPP will come off the rod from the clutch pedal. Unplug the wire connector and look inside. If it looks like this
You need a new one. Those are supposed to be one long continuous spring on each side, not the broken, several springs in the photo. They run about $25 - $30 at autozoo. One word of advice, go online and check pricing at several different Autozone stores. I discovered they don't all have the same price. Same part number, but I got one for $5 less than the store closest to me.
i just by passed it when mine screwed up. nobody drives my truck other than me
its kind of nice to reach in put it in neutral and start it with out having to push the clutch in
I've got a 2004 6.0L PSD with the 6-speed. When I try to use my cruise, it starts to work for a while, then begins to buck and shudder until it kicks itself out? Any help would be great!

Same rules apply to you. A switch test with a scanner, or check the CPP. Those springs will break eventually, just like mine did in the picture above.
